There’s something quietly powerful about making sure a child gets to celebrate their birthday.
Today at Margaret’s Pantry, that spirit of kindness arrived in the form of birthday cake kits, generously donated by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 2 in Holyoke. Lady Hibernians Mary Kate O’Connor and Rosalie Pratt presented the kits to Associate Director Michael Nowak, who will help ensure they reach families in our community.
Each kit is simple—a cake mix, frosting, and a few essentials—but the impact is anything but small. For families facing food insecurity, even modest celebrations can feel out of reach. These kits help restore something deeply meaningful: the joy of being celebrated.
As the Lady Hibernians shared in their own words, “A small act of kindness can make a big difference—and today, that difference will be felt in celebrations that might not have happened otherwise.” It’s a reminder that generosity doesn’t have to be grand to be transformative.
We are deeply grateful to the women of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians for coming together with such compassion and purpose. Their efforts will bring smiles, candles, and moments of joy to children and families who need it most.
Because every birthday deserves to be celebrated.
