Pantry Aide
Scope of Position:
In conjunction with multiple Pantry Aides, this person will be responsible for the day-to-day successful operations of Margaret’s Pantry. Responsibilities include sorting donations, stocking shelves, and distributing food to needy clients.
Incumbent will align with the Company’s mission and vision; provide customer service to diverse populations.
This is a 32.5 hours per week role with benefits.
- Mon, Wed, Fri: 8am to 4pm (8 hours per day, with a 30-minute unpaid meal break)
- Tues & Thurs: 8am to 1pm (5 hours per day)
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Learn and maintain knowledge of SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) of the pantry in order to run it successfully with other Pantry team members.
- Monitor food levels and assist with inventory tracking, using MS Office, Outlook, Excel and VCM (Virtual Case Manager) Onsite VCM training will be provided.
- Receive trucks for donations from partners.
- Package food for the community based on poundage guidelines.
- Process intakes on clients as needed.
- Sort and organize donated items.
- Keep the pantry and storage areas clean, safe and organized.
- Support volunteers during operating hours.
- Attend staff and other required meetings/trainings as deemed necessary by management.
- Comply with timekeeping policies by accurately clocking in and out.
- Any other functions or tasks requested by management.
- Treat all employees and clients with respect, dignity and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Basic proficiency in computers.
- A commitment to serving community members with compassion, dignity, and respect.
- Prolonged periods of standing, stooping and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, staff, and donors.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Prior customer service, sales, or food service experience desired.
- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification; if not already certified must complete within first 90 days of employment (onsite training provided).
