We are thrilled to share some exciting news! Florence Bank has once again partnered with UMass Hockey for their impactful Ice Out Hunger program—an annual effort that brings the community together to support food pantries across Western Massachusetts. This year, Providence Ministries is proud to be among the organizations receiving support from this generous initiative.

Since October 2024, Florence Bank has awarded $500 grants to local food pantries at every UMass home game, stretching from Springfield to Greenfield. By the end of the season, 18 nonprofits will have received gifts—each one helping ensure that families in our region have access to the food they need.

Providence Ministries had the honor of being recognized during the January 30th UMass Hockey game, where our team accepted the grant during a special on-ice presentation.

“On behalf of Providence Ministries, I wanted to thank Florence Bank and UMass Hockey for having us for the game on Friday and the check presentation,” said Mike Nowak.
“We are grateful for their commitment to addressing food insecurity and for including us in a program that brings so many community partners together.”

This partnership is a wonderful reminder of the power of local institutions rallying behind essential services. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Florence Bank for their continued leadership and generosity, and to UMass Hockey for using their platform to shine a light on hunger relief efforts.

Together, we can continue to Ice Out Hunger—one game, one grant, and one meal at a time.
