Message from Shannon Rudder, Executive Director, Providence Ministries
Growing up, my grandmother encouraged me to broaden my perspectives to realize that each of us in a community has a unique story—a quest and purpose. She often reminded me that none of us gets through life alone and that but for God’s grace, our stories could be reversed in the blink of an eye. She would often motivate me by saying to whom much is given, much is required. Lessons from my grandmother are essential to the core of who I am. It is why I am completely honored to serve the people of the Greater Holyoke area through Providence Ministries’ life affirming programs.
For 40 years, Providence Ministries has been a beacon of hope with the mission to feed, shelter and clothe those in need. Today, Kate’s Kitchen serves lunch daily to over 150 people; Loreto House, Broderick House and McCleary Manor is home to nearly 90 men on their individual recovery journeys;, St. Jude’s Closet opens its doors to offer clothing and other household items to our community; Margaret’s Pantry assists individuals and families with nutritious meals and our well-established culinary training program, foodWorks, literally helps students to increase their own capacity towards self-sufficiency.
We hear it time and time again, this tremendous work saves lives. I invite you to tune in to one of our videos to hear firsthand. Every effort Providence Ministries makes is with the dedication of our awesome staff and YOU are staunch supporters; THANK YOU!
Each of us carries within us the catalyst to real change; it is a collective responsibility and exchange. Let’s pay it forward, TOGETHER! Whether you know Providence Ministries well or are interested in taking a tour to learn how exactly you might plug in; I welcome a time to collaborate. I envision the creation of a community safety-web to support those marginalized among us. Our united voices are strong.
Our hearts and doors are always open. Please reach out to me any time at: email@example.com to create a world of difference right here in Holyoke.
