McCleary Manor (named after our foundress, Sister Margaret McCleary, SP) is a Single Room Occupancy permanent congregate sober living environment for low income men. Residents must be clean and sober for a minimum of 9 months prior to consideration for admittance, and must stay sober during their residency.
The facility is located on a hilltop above the Providence Hospital, overlooking the scenic Connecticut River and is surrounded by majestic trees and grassy areas. There is room for a garden for any resident wanting to plant vegetables during the summer and an outdoor grill is available for use by the residents. The facility has three common areas which have free cable tv, but the building is cable & wi-fi ready throughout and any resident may make arrangements to have cable hooked up in their room at their own cost.
The building is set up for congregate living with shared bathroom/kitchen areas. The first level of the building has a kitchen/dining/tv area (fully equipped), two handicap accessible bedrooms, and one full bath and one ½ bath. Additionally, this first level has administrative office space, two laundry areas, and a common/recreation room with games/tv/exercise equipment, etc. for resident use.
The second level (not handicapped accessible) has 12 bedrooms of various sizes, a large fully equipped kitchen/tv area, two full bathrooms and one ½ bath. The third level (not handicapped accessible) accommodates 11 bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and one ½ bath.
The building is located directly on a bus line and is within walking distance of Kmart Plaza which includes Kmart, Stop & Shop and many other shops and eateries. In another direction, Dunkin Donuts and a small gas/convenience store are within walking distance as is the Holyoke Mall which has an abundance of stores/restaurants. The Riverdale Shops in West Springfield are a few miles down the road and easily accessible by bus.
